Question by KJ: Star 80 movie about Dorothy Stratten, the machine?
Remember the movie Star 80 starring Mariel Hemingway as Dorothy Stratten. The scene at the bbq, the guy finds some sort of sex “exercise” machine in the garage, it had two leg pads with a belt/strap in the middle. And then she (dorothy) looked pissed, and he (paul) looked embarrassed.
What was it for exactly? Anal? I just didnt understand their reactions.

It was just a machine that could be adjusted to various positions for sex. It was like finding a box of vibrators or porno. It was just an intensely personal and embarrassing thing to be showing off at a cookout.
Also, that was the first time that Dorothy had even seen it.

If I remember correctly, there were a lot of “Self Pleasuring” devices like this in use back then and this was a version of what the producers had made for this film that wasn’t to graphic to keep it rated R. Like the answerer B4 stated, finding this thing in such a way was an embarrassment for all involved and this went to further this guys perceived lowering in the eye’s of Dorothy’s character.
