Do you know that in order to keep your heart healthy and your weight under control, you need to walk at least 10,000 steps each day? This may sound daunting but many activities you’re doing everyday such as running errands or doing household works can add up to a few thousand steps for you.

To make sure you achieve the 10,000 steps each day, here are some simple and easy exercises that you can do at home. These exercise routines work on specific muscle groups which will help to tone your body. They are more effective than the general exercises such as running errands and doing house chores. Here are the exercises you can easily do at home:

- Abs workout. I have found a great 8 minute video showing you how to do abs workout at home. You can watch the video at “Best Abs Workout At Home – Only 8 Minute“.

- Curl is very easy to do. Just lie on your back with both hands behind your head and raise your upper body. Repeat this move for 15-20 times.

- Leg exercises can be done by lying down on your side and lifting each leg repeatedly for 15-20 times. You can also stand and hold on to the back of a chair and lift your legs backward repeatedly.

- Stretching exercises. Stand with both of your hands against a wall and move your left leg back so that your foot is flat against the floor. Hold for a few seconds; then repeat this move with the right leg. Another great stretching exercise you can perform is to lie on your back, use both hands, bring up your right knee to your chest and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat this routine with your left leg.

- Arm exercises. This is important to improve muscle tone. For arm exercises, you can use an exercise band. Place both feet on one end of the band, hold the other ends with each hand and then repeatedly raise and lower the band (in an up and down motion for 10-15 minutes). If you have a pair of dumbbell, you can also use them to exercise your arms.

- If you are working at home and sitting in front of your computer most of the time, try to press down on your toes in an up and down motion frequently. This activity will help to keep the blood circulation flowing in your legs.

- Put on a CD and dance for about 20-30 minutes. This is a great cardiovascular workout. You can also incorporate sit-ups, jumping rope and push-ups into your daily home exercise routine.

NOTE>: Always do some stretching to warm up before starting any exercise routine to prevent injury.

From time to time we bump into bizarre diet books about low carb, low fat, high protein, vegetarian, fasting, Atkins, South Beach, liquid diets etc. Many times we see people shifting from one diet plan to the other in order to see quick changes. This is sure to drive us crazy one day if we don’t focus on the basics about getting flat abs.

The best way of doing abs exercise for achieving a flat stomach is by concentrating on the intensity of your workout. Stomach exercise is crucial for getting perfect abs. However, situps and crunches can be a big waste of time. The reason being that crunches and situps work only for a few among many, and those mainly beginners, and then only for a few weeks. When you exercise your abs and stomach, you must do so with increasing volume and intensity to get fast results. Correct Diet:

Perfect abs exercise needs a perfect stomach diet. Therefore, eating whole grains or sprouted grains will boost your process of reaching your goal. But eating too much grain is not recommended. Calf Raises
Work out your lower legs with calf raises, probably one of the best ways to firm up your calves. Stand straight up, then slowly lift your body as if you are standing on your tippy toes. Slowly lower yourself and repeat. You should feel a strong burn in your calves within 20-25 reps.

Squats
Great for toning your thighs, squats can be hard to do if you’re just getting started. Take it easy at first to make sure you don’t hurt yourself!

Again from a standing position, lower yourself down as if you were going to sit down in a chair. Using your thighs, slowly return to a standing position. Keep your back as straight as possible the entire time.

Hip Swing
Another great upper leg exercise. This time, lie on one side, supporting yourself with the lower-side arm. Raise the high-side leg (if you’re lying on your right side, raise the left leg) and point the toe away from your body. Slowly swing the leg forward until you can’t move it without your hips moving, then slowly swing the leg as far back as possible. Repeat several times, then flip over and repeat with the other leg.

Like all exercises, the key to results is consistency. Even if you only do a few of each exercise, make sure to do them regularly and you’ll soon notice firmer legs!

I want you do this non-stop for 5 minutes.  If you must, you can take short rests of 10 seconds every now and then.  But keep going without stopping as much as you can.

This is one heck of a cardio workout.  Not only does it work your legs, but it also does a fine job for your butt.

Elastic Band Stretch

Now to perform this activity you want to attach it to the bottom of your leg and make sure that it is down around the ankle portion. Make sure that you do not go too far because you don’t want to overstretch a muscle.

This exercise is great for working your body’s core.  All you have to do is raise yourself up on your toes while lying with your face looking down at the ground.  Then put all your weight on your forearms.  Hold this position for as long as possible.  Then rest and do it 3 more times.

This is an exercise you should do at least 5 times a week.
